Surface treatment on stainless steel
Your advantages at a glance:
- All the key surface treatment procedures for stainless steel from a single source.
- Vast experience in grinding of sensitive stainless steel surfaces.
- Pickling in one of the most up-to-date spray pickling plants on the market.
Wilhelm Modersohn GmbH & Co. KG from 32139 Spenge, Germany, is THE expert in surface treatment of stainless steel. We offer you all the key surface treatment procedures from a single source: glass bead blasting, stainless steel grain blasting, pickling, plate grinding, body grinding and plate de-burring.
Contract blasting, pickling and grinding is carried out on state-of-the-art systems, thus ensuring the highest possible quality standards.
Blasting:
Our investment in an injector blasting system with blasting chamber for large components enables the finishing of profiles, frames and frameworks, as well as flat surfaces, e.g. on housings, containers, casings or ornamental elements. Blasting is carried out using extremely fine glass beads, which achieve an optimum surface finish. Glass bead blasting is ideal for achieving a uniformly clean surface in the corners and angles of welded structures quickly and easily.
A system we have been successfully using for some time: The "small" chamber for blasting components up to 1.20 m in length. Modersohn offers blasting as a complete service, i.e. including the manufacture of the stainless steel component - or on a contract basis.
Grinding:
At Modersohn we have once again invested in new equipment and installed an automatic portal body grinding system to supplement existing manufacturing equipment in our surface treatment department. This enables us to grind thick sheet metals (from 8 to 110 mm). The grinding width of the new systems is 2800 mm, with a maximum grinding height of 1700 mm.
The machines support automatic use of a range of abrasive belts in a single work cycle – this helps us achieve a perfect surface and an extremely fine finish without any transitions.
We can also grind hot-rolled strip or bloom-rolled heavy plates: ideal for heavy components and sheet metal. The addition of this new equipment to our existing grinding systems means that Modersohn is able to process large quantities quickly.
Furthermore, the company also has two grinding and deburring systems, which are able to wet and dry grind sheet metals over wide rollers and plates. This produces a uniform finish with simultaneous deburring and/or a slight rounding of the edges, e.g. on lasered or plasma-cut sheet metal parts.
Another area of surface treatment is the pickling system for both small and large components. This system is used to pickle and passivate profiles, housings, frames, frameworks and many other forms of welded structures.
Cutting costs:
The advantages of the Modersohn complete manufacturing service: Our specialisation in stainless steel means that material waste plays a very minor role as a cost factor.
